Pay per click(PPC) programs is an advertising model used on search engines and websites/blogs. The advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an ad to visit the advertiser's website.
On some pay per click programs the advertisers pay the same amount of money for any keywords and the publishers get the same amount of money for any keyword. On the most pay per click programs advertisers bid on keywords they predict their target market will use as search terms when they are looking for a product or service. The publisher will get a percentage of the money paid by the advertiser.
When a user types a keyword query matching the advertiser's keyword list, or views a page with relevant content, the advertiser's ad may be shown. These ads are called a Sponsored link or sponsored ads and appear anywhere a webmaster/blogger chooses on a content page, or above the organic results on search engine results pages.
The biggest company in the business is Google. 99% of google earnings comes from publicity. The two pay per click programs are Google Adsense(for publishers) and Google Adwords(for advertisers). Google Adsense is probably the most popular site monetizer in the world today. Thousands of web publishers are relying on AdSense to provide ads for their site.
